The Article in Progress
Would you know the way Aelita creates her masterpieces of abstract art? It is not about what tools and paint she uses, but about these cosmic scenes and designs which appear in her paintings. We will consider only one of them, but very expressive.
A few words about the artist
Aelita Andre is an Australian born (in 2007) abstract expressionist painter of Russian heritage. She first began to paint professionally from nine months old. Today Aelita Andre is an internationally recognized artist whose solo exhibition at Agora Gallery, New York, in 2011 sold out in seven days.
There was no learning phase, no apprenticeship, no ‘education’ no trial and error. Aelita creates swirling layers of paint splatters and uses iridescent neon glitter to form an intricate, kinetic whole. From the very first painting Aelita ever did she would concentrate far longer than on any other activity. Her parents recall an incident where she awoke at one a.m. in the morning crying and repeating over and over, “I want to paint, I want to paint!”
Aelita painted before she could talk and walk. Painting was her first coordinated expressive action. Aelita employs techniques and materials naturally and freely as she sees fit at that moment. Every action contributes to the painting and is infused with a genuine expression of joy and wonder. “Amazing” and “exiting” are the favorite Aelita’s words, and after finishing each painting she says “Thank you” to the Unknown.
“The Mythical Creature of the Unknown”, “The Unknown”, “Magical Spirit”, “Cosmic Ocean”, “Doors to the Universe”, “The Music of the Infinite” and so on. The only names of her works suggest that she depicts not this world, but some other, infinite space, from which everything was born. Of course, images, objects and animals of our world could make on her a certain impression. But even at first glance at her paintings it becomes clear that she is inspired by something otherworldly.
For us adults, it is something unknown, lying on the other side of the threshold of consciousness. Apparently, Aelita kept the memory of the world in which her soul lived before birth. In its beauty the world “before birth” are infinitely superior to this one. But to compare their beauty, she managed only through painting. And this is the only way to to know something about the unknown.
Impulses from before birth
Painting technique Aelita Andre is very different from how do the majority of artists called abstractionists. They operate under the influence of idea, and even if there is no idea at first, then it comes in the course of painting. Background dictates what figure is in harmony with this background.
Aelita is quite different. For her does not matter what was in the picture before. At every moment, she creates a new picture and does not care about what has already been created. She does not borrow ideas from the visual, but takes them out of her Unknown. She is confident that within herself may be only the best good and the most harmonious ideas.
It is better to call these idea as impulses. The artist has within her a number of impulses, so to say, from before birth. The first impulse, the second impulse, the third pulse … This creates a picture as a superposition of impulses. You can easily see them at this painting. For exumple, the blue creature that came from left, clearly ignored what there was in the picture before him. So works a genius!
